Moles are common in almost every adult. Brown or black growths that are round or oval, moles can appear anywhere on the skin. They can be rough or smooth, flat or raised, single or in multiples. It’s normal for moles to grow and change in color as children and teens grow; however, new or changing moles in an adult could be a sign of melanoma. It’s important to keep an eye on your moles. When a mole changes in color, size or shape, or if it starts bleeding or itching, see a dermatologist. When caught early, skin cancer is highly treatable. We recommend a skin check at least annually, and more if you have previously been diagnosed with skin cancer, or if it runs in your family. Is it time to schedule yours?
